If you've been keeping up with our entryway progress over the past month, you know there's been a ton of drywall work and a LOT of dust...everywhere. I think I've given myself carpal tunnel from mudding and mudding wall after wall, every joint, and the ceiling several times, but I do have to admit it's been a great source of pregnancy exercise without being too strenuous! Regardless, we're so excited to get past the sheetrock phase of this little space.
The major bones of this entry are now finally set in place so I couldn't resist getting a jump on piecing together all the little details. Since this entry acts as an intersection for three major areas of our house, combined with the fact that it's the first spot you land walking through our front door, I'm imagining lots of layered textures to help it breathe and really stand out. And by texture, I'm talking a nice crisp beadboard, bright trim, soft linen shades, and the added character of transom windows that tie into the language of our double-hungs.
We will definitely be tackling this space over time, but here's what we'll be working towards!
The idea of adding in a smaller furniture piece in here felt really functional for us since we're always throwing our keys and wallets here and there. I've absolutely loved this one from Arhaus, but I always keep an eye out for a good vintage find too!
The transom windows really just make me the happiest. I love the classic vintage feel they bring, while also allowing us to maintain transparency and accentuate as much ceiling height as we can (ours are only 8'-0" here). One of the openings leads to a small hall with bedrooms and a bathroom, the other leads into our future office, so I love the thought of putting in some type of glass door for a little bit of privacy on that side. Maybe a deep + bold paint color splashing the walls in that room too, but more to come on that space wayyy later.
I cannot wait to really get into the weeds on how this entry will help highlight its connecting spaces, especially our big vaulted living room just adjacent! And modernizing that front door...wow. It will really make all the difference.
